Laser Cutting:Laser Knowledge & Tips

The maximum cutting thickness depends on the specific type of material being processed. Based on our comprehensive cutting parameters, the machine is capable of cutting up to the following maximum thicknesses:

  • Carbon Steel: Up to 60 mm

  • Stainless Steel: Up to 50 mm

  • Aluminum Alloy: Up to 50 mm

  • Brass: Up to 20 mm

  • Aluminum & Red Copper: Up to 10 mm

> Note: Achieving these maximum cutting thicknesses requires the optimal combination of cutting parameters, including the maximum configured laser power (up to 15kW), correct assist gases (such as Oxygen or Nitrogen), and appropriate nozzle and focus settings.

Choosing the right laser power depends primarily on the type of material, the maximum thickness you need to cut, and your desired cutting speed.

As a general guideline based on our cutting parameters:

  • Low to Medium Power (1000W - 2000W): Ideal for thin sheet metals. For example, 1000W is perfectly sufficient for cutting Stainless Steel up to 5mm and Carbon Steel up to 10mm. 2000W can handle Carbon Steel up to 20mm (using Oxygen) but at a slower speed.

  • High Power (3000W - 6000W): The standard choice for most versatile fabrication shops. 6000W can effortlessly cut Stainless Steel up to 20mm and ensures much faster cutting speeds on thinner plates (e.g., cutting 1mm Carbon Steel at 45 m/min).

  • Ultra-High Power (10,000W - 15,000W+): Designed for heavy industry. Choose this if you frequently cut extremely thick plates. A 15,000W laser can slice through Carbon Steel up to 60mm and Stainless Steel up to 50mm.

> Pro Tip: If your budget allows, opting for a slightly higher power than your immediate maximum thickness requirement is recommended. It significantly increases cutting speed, prevents edge burrs, and future-proofs your business for thicker materials.

Our laser cutting machines are engineered for industrial-grade accuracy, typically achieving a positioning precision of ±0.03mm.

Regarding burrs: You can achieve a completely burr-free and smooth edge, provided you use the correct settings. The key to eliminating burrs is strictly following the recommended configurations for your specific material and thickness. By applying the exact cutting speed, assist gas (e.g., using Nitrogen for Stainless Steel), gas pressure, and focal position listed in the table, the machine will deliver a clean, polished finish that requires no secondary grinding or deburring operations.

Return on Investment (ROI): For most contract manufacturers and job shops with a steady workflow, a fiber laser cutting machine typically achieves a full return on investment within 12 to 24 months. This rapid ROI is driven by three main factors:

  • Zero Tooling Costs: Unlike punching machines, there are no expensive molds to create or replace.

  • Elimination of Secondary Operations: The burr-free edges eliminate the need for time-consuming manual grinding and polishing.

  • High Throughput: Fiber lasers cut up to 3 to 5 times faster than traditional plasma or CO2 lasers, allowing you to process more orders per day.

Operating Costs Breakdown: Fiber lasers are renowned for their incredibly low running costs compared to older technologies. Your hourly operating cost mainly consists of three parts:

  1. Electricity: Consumed by the laser source, water chiller, and exhaust system. Fiber lasers have a high wall-plug efficiency (over 30%), keeping power bills highly manageable.

  2. Assist Gas: Depending on the material, you will use Oxygen (for thick carbon steel) or Nitrogen (for clean stainless steel edges). Pro Tip: Many of our clients use an air compressor for Compressed Air Cutting, which drastically reduces gas costs to near zero.

  3. Consumables: These are inexpensive and easily replaceable, primarily including copper nozzles, ceramic rings, and protective mirrors. (Solid-state fiber lasers require no internal mirror alignments or laser gas refills).

A Serise

  • Detachable Slat Frame & Thermal Isolation: An independent, removable blade frame physically isolates intense cutting heat from the main structural bed. This effectively prevents thermal expansion, eliminates heat-induced deformation, and significantly extends the machine’s lifespan.

  • Heavy-Duty Box-Type Plate-Welded Structure: Constructed with ultra-thick solid steel plates and multi-layer internal reinforcing baffles, creating an exceptionally rigid enclosed box frame that will never sag under multi-ton heavy plates.

  • Maximum Vibration Absorption: The massive structural weight suppresses high-inertia shocks during extreme accelerations (3G+), ensuring zero-jitter motion and mirror-smooth edge perpendicularity.

F Serise

  • Reinforced Central Backbone: Features a heavy-duty longitudinal main spine running through the entire bed, maximizing torsional resistance and preventing structural sagging over long-term use.

  • Dual-Chamber Zoned Exhaust: Built with dual V-funnel airflow channels alongside the central beam for powerful, localized extraction of smoke and dust right beneath the cutting head.

  • The 3kW–12kW Industrial Workhorse: Specifically balanced for mainstream fabrication shops handling both high-speed thin sheets and medium-thick plates (1mm–20mm).
